Most dog chews compete on louder claims. We would rather compete on something harder to fake: figures you can check. Here is how CanisWell™ Skin + Coat is built, and why each choice was made.
1. Every active, every dose
The biggest problem in this category is the proprietary blend — a label that names impressive ingredients but hides how much of each is actually present. It is a way to look potent while under-dosing.
Our rule: every active and its exact amount is printed on the label. No blends, nothing hidden. What you read is what your dog gets.

2. Why omega-3 leads the formula
EPA and DHA are among the most studied nutrients for supporting a normal, healthy skin barrier, which is why they are the backbone of a serious skin and coat supplement.
But the words "omega-3" on a front label tell you almost nothing. A "total omega-3" figure can be mostly ALA from plant oils such as flaxseed, which dogs convert into EPA and DHA very inefficiently. That is why we declare EPA and DHA separately, in milligrams, and why we removed flaxseed from an early supplier specification. The full argument.
We also chose an 18/12 marine concentrate rather than a cheaper unconcentrated oil, because the concentration determines how much EPA and DHA a given amount of oil actually delivers.
3. Two flavors, one formula
Skin + Coat comes in chicken and salmon. The nine actives and their amounts are identical in both — only the flavor differs.
The salmon chew is made without chicken, including in the palatability system, for households that would rather keep chicken out of the bowl. That is a deliberate choice, not an afterthought.
4. Testing: what is done, and what is not
Here is exactly where we stand, rather than a general claim of being "third-party tested".
Done. The formula has been tested by SGS, an independent laboratory, covering heavy metals, microbial safety and a 315-item pesticide screen.
Not done yet. We are pre-launch, so no production batch exists. Batch certificates of analysis will be published as batches are tested, and we will not claim per-batch testing until per-batch testing is actually happening.
Also not done yet. Oxidation values — peroxide value, anisidine value and TOTOX — will be published once we have measured results from a real batch. These are the three numbers that show whether a marine oil is still fresh, and almost nobody in this category publishes them. Why they matter.

5. How it is made
CanisWell Skin + Coat is produced in a facility registered with the FDA and operating to current Good Manufacturing Practice under 21 CFR Part 507, with NSF GMP and ISO 9001 certification.
FDA registration is a legal requirement for facilities that make food and feed. It is not an FDA endorsement of the product, and we do not present it as one.
6. What we have not done
No veterinary nutritionist has reviewed this formula. A review is being arranged. Until it is complete, the phrase "vet-formulated" will not appear anywhere on this site, because it would not be true. We would rather tell you what is unfinished than let you assume otherwise.
What we will never say
You will notice we say our chews support and help maintain — never that they treat, cure or prevent a disease. That is not lawyer-speak, it is accuracy. A supplement supports health; it is not a drug. Any brand promising to cure your dog's condition with a chew is telling you something neither the science nor the law will back up.
